Bought 2 new LG 27EA63V-P monitors

Thread Starter
Now I am having second thoughts. They are still in the box... haven't even cracked the seal. Bought mostly because they were physically there. I am in the process of designing a build and want to do a multi monitor set up, but I am so confused as to gettng a good price point.

I use a mid 2010 MBP also and it would be nice to connect to a monitor also. I was seriously considering a single new LG 29" ultrawide monitor.... it has more port options than these 27" LG's. Also the LG's are listed at discontinued on most sites. The 27EA63VP has been reviewed very well on this site, but I am just confused.... should I simply order a two dells? It seems that would be considerably more cash.

I understand that I should be considering the fact that these monitors are only 1920x 1080.... and at 27" I am settling. Should I look into a higher res monitor set up. Settle for a single nice monitor now and perhaps purchase another later? I paid 3 bills each for these LGs and they have been considerably cheaper in the past, but in some sort of marketing schema have spiked in price? Couple this with the fact that they are now discon. and have no display port has me worried.

Since they were bought at a brick and mortar, I could simply open the box and use one for some work that I have to do, then decide in the next few days. I am using the 18month financing on this purchase, but would really like to get a good price point and smart buy for my eventual system that I build (two to three monitors) . Am I crazy for settling for so low end? What would you recommend I trade these two monitors in for (single monitor)?

Thanks for any advice you might offer a new guy to the forum.

Did you see my thread on the LG: http://www.overclock.net/t/1390365/asus-vg248qe-or-lg-27ea63v-p

I went from a Dell 2407WFP (IPS) to a Samsung 245t (S-PVA) and never looked back. The Samsung had way better "black" (ie; no light bleed) then the "Highly acclaimed" WFP, no "banding" in dark movies and way better color reproduction at a cost of almost $900 back in '09.

I've always wanted a "little more real-estate" but, w/ a 1920x1080 max resolution. I'd had a "saved search" on ebay for a Samsung 275T for a few years (but @ over a grand never purchased one) and one day I was rolling through MicroCenter and happened to see the LG and couldn't believe the price for a 27" "IPS" monitor.

I went home and did a little research on the LG (specs / reviews) and found it for a slightly better price at the local BestBuy. I picked it up and was a little unhappy at first > it was very bright & some of the colors washed out. I ran my Spyder 3 on it and set the Brightness to something like 25 and the Contrast to 30 (I think > can look it all up if you wish to pursue it). Now, it looks as good and preforms as well or better then my 245t and I can't be happier w/ the LG.

I'm running a single GTX770 so the 1920x1080 is a great combination @ that resolution. You have to keep in mind if you want to go w/ a larger monitor (or "multi") w/ a higher resolution you will need to upgrade your VGA to keep up w/ the higher resolutions.

I'm not sure if the GTX770 does well @ higher resolutions (just never needed to find out) but, it might run multi-monitor @ higher resolution just fine? As far as the LG monitor: you can't go wrong and from what I understand the newer Dell monitors (though faster G2G) have no where near picture quality (from the 2407WFP) I started from.

Additionally; if you intend to run "multi" be sure that the monitors you choose have "V.E.S.A." mounts or your screwed, the LG 27EA63V-P does !

If I can help please feel free to "P.M." me ! -Davis thumb.gif
