Sata 6gb/s on PCI card?

Thread Starter
I have the Gigabyte Z77-D3H and I have 2 SATA 6gb/s ports and 4 SATA 3gb/s ports. I have a SSD, 1tb hdd, and a 500gb hdd all hooked up in my pc. The thing is i want my 500gb hdd running on sata 6gb/s but I have no more ports. Is there a PCI card that has SATA 6gb/s on it? and if there is, will hinder my other PCI ports? because i want my video card running on max speed.

If this is a mechanical HDD, the difference between 3Gbps and 6Gbps is zero.

I assume you mean PCI-E not PCI? Your board should have PCI-E slots hanging off the PCH that will not impact the video card in any way.

Some recent budget PCI-E controllers will handle a single fast SSD without being a serious bottleneck. Look for cards that use the Marvell 88SE9220/9230/9235 controller.

HDDs don't saturate SATA 2 speeds. Then PCI doesn't have enough bandwidth even for SATA 2. If you meant PCI-E then you will need x1 per each 6Gbps port to get full SATA 3 speeds.

Rest of Z77-D3H's PCI-E slots are independent of the main X16 GPU slot, so it won't affect your GPU lanes. Although the last X4 shares the lanes with X1 slots on the board IIRC.
