EK precision mount doesn't seem to allow enough pressure on the die...

I remounted a couple times, and temps were never great. The first time I used what I'd say is too much LiquidPro. The second time I used an appropriate amount and temps were worse. I'm thinking the mount is preventing the block from having enough pressure applied to the die. I could sand down the plastic washers the mount uses to lower it a bit. My concern is how to tell when enough is enough. How do people mount directly on the die without the EK system, and how do you guage when its tightened enough, without hurting the die?

Please show the picture of the mounting screw. Someone might packed them wrong rolleyes.gif

Stay tuned. I'll be able to post picts later this week.

I wouldn't mind seeing others picts showing how they're mounting on the die too. It seems difficult to gauge the correct amount of pressure.

I think a title rename is in order. Your title says it doesnt seem to hit the die. Your actual post says there may not be enough pressure rolleyes.gif

If it wasn't hitting the die, you would have 80-100c temperatures instantly

What does your thermal paste look like after you've pulled off your block? Can you show a pic of what yours look like?
It will look something like this if your block is not making contact...

Here's what it looks like after taking it apart. You can see the TIM is not making contact in some areas. I'm thinking of sanding down the plastic washers just a bit, or maybe not even using them.

Don't do that there must be something wrong with the way your mounting it.

It looks like the supeglued capacitors (if that's what they're called), may taller than the die. I suppose this would put upward pressure on that side of the block keeping it from making full contact.

What TIM is that?
