I have a feeling it was the group of 3 VRMs in the top left - how did you stick the ram sinks on there? There so little contact area on the top one, the U shaped heatsink was definately not on right...can someone please provide more detail on how to secure and cool the VRMs?
VRM2 - maxed out at 65C - i belive this is the long strip of VRMs on the right side of the card, i used the long strip of grey thermal tape on this and the heatsinks seemed to attach pretty good
I dont want to buy thermal glue, but if VRMs are what holding back a possible 1230-1250mhz overclock i guess ill have to.
You HAVE to buy epoxy for those VRM's. Also, don't use that U shaped heatsink. It's a piece of crap. Use the thin ones that are similar to it, but are only meant for one or two VRM"s. What I did was I put one of those on each VRM outside of a cluster (for those I used the large ones). This ensures that each VRM has the maximum surface area of the heatsink to dissipate on and isn't sharing.
But yeah, the thermal tape is ****. I have a bad opinion about the cooler as a result, since you have to glue them on to have any peace of mind.
