Overclocking potential on the 290 is severely limited by the cooler to the point where they can barely get more than 100 mhz out of it, even on "uber" mode. Perhaps if AMD allowed 3rd party coolers, the 290x would perform much better but all the major manufacturers don't even have 3rd party coolers planned until 2014. Disappointing launch really.
Just because someone doesn't have patience, doesn't mean the product is bad, or worthy. Heat & noise are not an issue if u have a case, right?
I ask, why.. are you trying to OC the R9.. for Battlefield..? For a Competition..?
Heat & noise don't matter, unless you are trying to get more heat & noise... oddly, COOLING goes hand & hand with OC'ing. So how is it, that the R9 is different in that regard.?
You only need a cooler, if ur going to OC. Know this.
