I don't get this "admit defeat" part. Did AMD "admit" defeat when the 670/680 came out?

ok do you think nvidia would lower prices if that wasn't case... i can tell you know if the 290x didn't perform like how it is now i promise those price drop wouldn't have come... get my point now thumb.gif

i'm saying they physically came out and said that oblivious both side would never admit defeat..but in my opinion prices drops tell me all i need to know.

A card that is LOUDER, HOTTER, sucks more POWER, and has less overclocking headroom unless you do some form of aftermarket water cooling or LN2!

It was 6+ months that the GTX 780 was king of the gaming cards. It will be less than 1 month that the R9 290X will be king of the gaming cards. The GTX 780Ti will see to that ... and will do it quieter, cooler, and with less power, and at a similar (if not same) price.
Overclocking is great and all but it isn't the be all and end all. If you must overclock then get a 780. We haven't even seen aftermarket cooler versions or any driver improvements for the 290x. Pcper said 780Ti will be $700 so I don't know where you are getting your info.

This is exactly what AMD did at the beginning of 2012, when they sold 7970 at $550 for 2 month before forced to drop the price because of 680 matched/beat it in performance for a less price. The difference is Nvidia was able to sale 780 for 5 month before dropping price.

The only thing price drop tells everyone is Nvidia was able to profit from their high prices for longer than AMD could.

Hadocp said it themselves with benchmarks. The 290x is 10-25% faster then titan at 4k. Pull the wool off your eyes.

The irony in you name makes it even better BTW.

By the way, it looks like the original post needs to be updated. Source now states that 780 will be dropped to $499.

Why is it bad? Also one of the best 770's the MSI Lightning is £20 less than the ASUS Matrix 280x which is over £300.

few questions,
When does the free 3 game thing take the effect?

did they release 780ti specs? is it worth shelling out $200 more?

Now that there is competition in that space, they have to adjust prices.

Happens all the time.

They will price it at whatever the market will sustain. Now that there is an option (to each his own), the market has changed.

It's called Market Based Pricing (I think, economics course was a lonnnng time ago)

Because nVidia knew the 290x > 780, so nVidia dropped the price to $500-$550 plus bundle with 3 games & $100 of for the SHIELD.
