How many console generations have you been through? Because this is going to be my 6th.

NES -> Snes/Sega -> Dreamcast/Sony Playtations / N64 -> PS2 / Xbox -> PS3 / Xbox 360 -> PS4 / Xbox One

Usually, the PC has been behind the console in terms of graphical power. Up until about the time of PS2/Xbox. The PS3/Xbox 360 were the pinnacle of PC hardware GPUs at the time.

Usually companies allow themselves to take a loss on hardware the first few years, but re-cooperate via software sales. This time they are both starting at +100$ profit per machine. I believe the Xbox is even higher. They easily could have had a real 200~300$ GPU inside, which would have had an OEM/Bulk discount on and probably still turned a profit. A TITAN is probably a pipe dream, but a 680 or 7970 could have worked.

I like the concept a lot.

The graphics look incredible. More specifically the texture resolution and overall scenery.

Looking forward to its release and associated low price.

I'm starting to think anyone who believes this doesn't look good is either in denial or ignorant. That's coming from someone who's been maxing out PC games at 1440p for almost two years ago.

"But Crysis looks better"

Sure, but that doesn't mean this game doesn't look good, just because there exists a game out there that looks better. Especially considering the little time these devs have had with the new hardware thumb.gif

I know everyone says "consoles hold back PC" but don't devs create better looking stuff for PC anyway? So now consoles have had a massive boost to hardware surely devs will be planning much better looking stuff, and then making them look even better on PC?

Graphics look good. Normal console issues (that are going to continue into this gen) of poor AA with the resulting pixel crawl and low render resolution. But some good textures and nice lighting.

But more to the point, the game itself looks very intriguing! I don't care about the graphics as long as they are 'good enough' to convey the gameplay/storyline/experience, and this looks like a very interesting experience indeed.

The only thing I really wanted from the X1 and PS4 was enough power for developers to be able to explore new game ideas that they were limited with before due to the power of the 360 and PS3. Game development on the consoles has stagnated, so this game looks exactly like the type of thing I was hoping for.

Now I have to literally wait 8-10 years for them to fix these design mistakes. That is a huge chunk of my life I have spent waiting on them to get the hardware MODERN so that we can have our next gaming revolution.

Meanwhile, the PC is at the mercy of consoles, always limited by developers because of what can be done by consoles. Being of the PC Gaming Master Race, I can't even begin to tell you the low I feel for the upcoming garbage about to be shove down our bitter throats. There just isn't words for the disdain I feel. There is a reason why the entire PC gaming community is bitter, I just don't think the majority know why they are so frustrated in bitter. ME, I have had a lot of time, and I am good at programming and logic to figure myself out.

I have more potential in my Sig Rig during a BSOD then both consoles combined, yet I begin to doubt if it will ever be taken advantage of.

It's literally like building a kit car, only to find out, I will never be allowed to drive it on the street. You just sit there watching it collect dust.... waiting for that next "Crysis-like" hit or real-time "The Samaritan" game via Unreal. Then I found out that EVEN CALL OF DUTY CAN'T BE PLAYED AT 1080P ON EITHER CONSOLE (MAINLY XBOX ONE THOUGH.) COD. "IT'S A 15 MINUTE FLIGHT, AND THEY CAN'T PULL IT OFF. Ref."

The industry is a shadow of its former self. So YES, I am grumpy, and sick of all this hype and crap. So I admit, there maybe some extra bitter-ness where others might not expect it, or even frown on it.

However, it is true, good on them for doing all the work themselves, but it is NOT groundbreaking.

What are you talking about !?

All games are now going to be 2 things both of which are epic for PC Gamers:

1. OpenGL

2. X86 code base made on a PC to begin with.

And its simply idiotic to assume a company would be able to wide scale produce yeild's of the kind of top level GPU's your talking about (Titan's 290x) into the hundreds of millions? Not to mention the cost's involved for the consumer of including a $600 GPU into a console AND the CPU not to bottleneck it a further $250 - $300 rolleyes.gif

Did you really expect little jimmy to be rolling with a gigantic EVGA GTX780 wedged into his reduced price 1 year on from now $350 xboxone ? How small is your PC? How many Fans does it have? How much is the power consumption?? Heat, Noise... and did you get forced to keep it designed to meet US / EU / Asia IEC standards? When you make a console you have to make it one size fits all.. GLOBALLY.

so now that 8 core jaguar and 7850 doesn't look so bad at all

Some of that bitterness has clouded your judgment

To answer your questions:
1.) OpenGL is not going to miraculously make a mediocre APU a power house.
2.) x86 code base? So it is easier to PORT to PC... hooray. Another 8 years of ports. Again you completely missed the point.

Consoles are a hardware bottleneck to the gaming industry.

If it was a CPU it would be a stock Bulldozer, WHICH, by the by, is actually more powerful than these mobile Jaguar cores.

Idiotic to assume a company wouldn't put in a top level GPU? Did you miss the PS3 and Xbox 360? Both planned and designed on the highest end GPUs of that time. They were soon replaced by better GPUs on the PC side, but that is the nature of the beast. All of what you just said was completely nullified by the fact they have done it before.

An 8 core jaguar and a 7850 suck compared to high end. Do you even get that the NEW consoles are struggling at 1080p? Are you kidding me? This is an upgrade?! The CPU and GPU combo alone aren't worth 400~500$, considering that could get you an i7 and 7950/670 combo off the shelf at Microcenter.

US / EU / ASIA IEC standards? I guess they would never allow a more power hungry machine to run... like I don't know... a COMPUTER?

Reset is PC only game as far as I know. The Praxis engine they made have a lot of potential. The lighting is amazing. Look at video from the blog I posted the link couple pages back. After 3:50, it shows how sunlight react to volumetric clouds. How many games does it have that?
The story looks intriguing too. It seems like the future city is abandoned due to unknown problems and the robots with smart AI were out there to repair it or something. Then, they encounter major system bug that shuts them down for certain great amount of time and they "woke" up surprised to see how much city changes. I think most of the game will take place after they "woke" up.

Thanks for the video! It does indeed look like they have some very nice features.

Especially the clip from 3:50 onwards looks excellent
