Is RAD amount underated?

I was told many times the general Rule is 120mm per block. While that fine i dont think you are going to get good temps using a 360 RAD to cool 2 x GPUs and a CPU.

I have always been troubled by Water Cooling as getting low temps was next to impossible.

Most people think that if you got cards Water Cooled you should expect low 40s temps.

I have never seen something like that with any of my setups.

To me low 40s you attain by having lots of RAD space with push/pull with no OC and low ambient temps.

Speaking of my setup i have a XChanger 360 + EX 240 both push/pull with GT15s.

I though it would be would be enough. Boy i was wrong. With 2 x 7970 @ 1.25v and Fans @ 7v i am getting 59C for top card and 63C for bottom card.

I still think these temps are much better then air but HD 7970 are spoiled cards. They lose their stability in high OC once you go past 45C.

Increasing fans to 12v which is not something nice because it causes air turbulence more so noise temps drop about 8C.

52C and 55C.

I was thinking of getting 290X but i am not too sure now.

I probably need another 480 RAD to get temps below 50C.

I know its possible because it takes a good 10 min for temps to hit the highest value.

Just positing this to let people know not to skip in RAD space.

It was somewhat true back in the day, but now everything uses so much power, especially high end gpu's today.

Well since you are using low rpm, perhaps a change to XSPC RX series would do the trick? (Since they are the best rads with 1200rpm and below) But I do agree with you, I have also been expecting lower temps, and got pretty high ones (although much lower than air).
But you will be able to cool two 290x ok with your current setup.

My power meter reports MAX 830W. I know when cards are at stock is ~ 550W. Yeah todays cards get really hot and use a lot of power. 300W you need 360 RAD push pull for 10C delta. 290X will drop probably extra 100-150W on top of 7970s. Also if you touch the RAD when cards is running @ 63C the water is very hot. At least there is goo heat transfer.

My TFC X-Changer is actually better then a RX360 @ 1000 RPM. Trying to fins a way how to install my RS360 outside my Switch 810 but most likely upgrade to 900D in the future.

So it is that much huh? Have to get a bigger PSU very soon too, my Lightning's are power hungry and now that I'm putting them under water they will probably want even more.
It's almost sad really, remember when I could have a single 360 cool cpu and gpu good.

Get a external radiator mount perhaps? (Or build one yourself) This would surely do the trick until you get a new case. Well the X-Changer is very good, so don't doubt that.

Probably do a bottom RAD box on the cheap with 2 x RS360s.
