Got a new 32" TV - Resolution issues

Hey guys, running windows 8.1 here, amd 7970 and switched from a 24" monitor/tv to a 32" TV. Monitor was plugged through DVI, now the new tv has only HDMI (and I had no adapter here) so I pluged and HDMI high-speed cable. The TV is a samsung 32" LED 3D TV (UN32EH6030GCTC) and everything works just fine but when I am on desktop, image looks big like if I was on an 800x600 monitor though it looks crisp except on some apps.
Tried uningstalling/reinstalling drivers and after the reintall (and before restart) it all loked perfectly fine, but after restarting the pc it went back like it was before. TV has DVI (with HDMI adapter) and manual shows it can be connected to a pc so it should work fine.
Resolution shows 1080p 3d but it all looks huge.
When I open any game, it works fine. the issue is while on desktop. 3D apps work fine ! It is very annoying !!!!
I have set the tv in "PC" mode and plugged the HDMI cable in the HDMI slot 1 as described by the manual (though tried both to no avail)

Anyone? I'd rep you all the way if you can solve this !

Here are some pics of what I see:

EDIT: I bought a new HDMI cable 10.2 GBPS 3d 240hz etc. for this tv

I'll take a singular stab at it, it's most likely the DPI setting as seen here:
