Why is there such a big gap in temps between air and water in GPU but not CPU

Just curious... I don't know if it's me but it seems like watercooling gpu is so much worth it but cpu not that much? And how comes when someone watercools his gpu we see 40c improvements vs air and cpu the gap is not that big??

A gpu that is equivalent to a cpu tends to use a lot more power. Let's not forget that a graphics card is much larger than a cpu.

Also cpu coolers are much more efficient because they have more space. Graphics cards have to use less fins and get less airflow.

GPUs put out 2-3 times more heat than CPUs...

GPUs run at higher temps than CPUs, WC temps can only go so low (ambient) so the margin is larger for GPUs
