getting artifacts in one of my games . . . - Page 2

well company of heroes is a RTS, and correct me if im wrong but RTS's rely more on the cpu then the graphics card, so it might be that the cpu is overclocked too much. and IF you are getting choppy game play, and you have an onboard sound card, turn down the sound quality because the onbaord sound card uses lots of cpu power, once again, correct me if im wrong

well I watch my temps using PC probe on my second monitor during the game . . . they never really rise higher than any other game . . . and i'm usually fine playing games like FEAR and RB6 Vegas maxed out without artifacts too . . . ?? but the physics in a game is run by the processor, so maybe i'm pushing it a little too much . . . idk I only OC'd it from 2.2 to 2.53ghz . . .

I guess I could drop it a little more to see how it does . . .

well, last option would be to reinstall i guess... o, and try running defrag, i dont really kno the scince behind it, but its normaly speeds up load times and when games look for files to be used, im not to sure on that one, but once again, its worth a try.

yeah I degragged not too long ago, but wouldn't hurt to try again

also I have a sound card . . . so that can't be slowing it down

and if RTS games use more CPU than GPU then maybe, I suppose, I could turn down the settings a little, see if it helps

I really don't get any choppyness though . . . . just the artifacts every so often . . . but it's weird it just started happening, and I've been playing the game for a few months now . . .

thx for the suggestions though . . .

oh . . . that's another good move . . .

I think i'll just underclock the CPU a little, and play it a few times to see what happens . . . if that doesn't work I'll try the system restore, if that don't work I'll try reinstalling, IF THAT DON'T WORK lol, then I'll underclock the video card a little (hopefully the last option will not come about)

see the artifacts are dealable though, they are just little lines, annoying but I can still play haha
