Help Me Identify this CPU

Thread Starter
I was rummaging through a box of random computer stuff that I have built up over the years to find some Yate Loons that I knew I had still BNIB and found an old Intel processor. I can't remember if it's an E7200 or Q6600. Problem is, I lapped it about three years ago and the only numbers visible don't give me any obvious information.

Searching around it appears intel has a program to help decode what the processor is but I can't find a version for OS X.

Using THIS LINK, I can tell you that the only numbers I can see are line 6 and line 7.

Numbers are:
2V82015
3A2492

You don't have a boot camp partition on your mac? They're very handy.

*Facepalm. I'll be right back tongue.gif

EDIT: Doesn't look like that program will help with processors not installed. Really only just showed information about my current processor.

Any other thoughts?

Me i don't do codes. There are people here who probably do though. See who pops in tomorrow and you may get lucky. Only thing I can think to do is mount them in something and check the bios. if you don't have a 775 board around that's hard though.

I don't know why but I felt the urge to make a joke out of this situation since you're Canadian (or at least live in Canada), but I resisted tongue.gif

If the codes don't take you anywhere, you can delid it as a last resort. If you see 2 rectangles next to each other, you have a Q6600 biggrin.gif

I suppose I could do that, lol. Looks like it might be very tough without being able to read line 5 since line 7 only gives me a partial serial number.

I am pretty sure it's a Q6600 but I really don't remember. I might have posted about it so I'm going to try digging through my old posts/threads and see what I can find.
