MPC Home Cinema Questions

Thread Starter
I was using MPC for a while until I found out it can't play mp4 files correctly with ffdshow, so I switched to the latest version of MPC HC, and I have a few questions.

First, I have CoreAVC and ffdshow installed, but I can only find CoreAVC to add, under Optiopns > External Filters. How do I add ffdshow?

Now it actually plays avi and HD videos, without me adding both codecs to External Filters, how come?

In MPClassic I had to add them for it to play videos.

Second, is there a way to get subtitles to look as they look in MPC? In MPC HC it just looks bolder. I set the same subtitle settings in MPC HC as in MPC, but it still looks bolder, any idea?

Thanks.

I've been using MPC HC for years and have never had to install any additional codecs, but I also have KMPlayer installed as well so it may be using codecs from that. Maybe try installing K-Lite codec pack (do not install the included version of MPC/HC, its crap) or CCCP.

Don't know about the subtitles, I don't use MPC as my main player.
