Upgrade i5 2500 to i53750K worth it

Hi Guys
I was wondering if you think its worth it to upgrade from a 2500 non K to a 3570K, I've got xfire 7950's thought the upgrade might free them up a bit more.
Other wise I was thinking of picking up a Corsair 750D as I've got an old Coolmaster stacker 810 Nvidia edition and the lack of cable management is some what annoying smile.gif

Cheers

3570k is about 10-15% faster clock for clock and a k will overclock where a 2500 regular will not.

Hmmmm... A OC'd 3570k will offer a fairly decent performance increase compared to a 2500 non-K. Lots of people would say "not worth it" if your 2500 was a overclocked K variant, but in this case, things might be a bit different.

For me, it would come down to the cost of upgrading; if you've found a good deal on the 3570K, I'd be more inclined to pick one up. wink.gif

Am I going to see a 20% improvement in games with a i5 3570K @ 4.5Ghz vs the i5 2500 @3.3Ghz

Cheers

I'd be looking at 210 euro to pick up the 3570k

Depending on the application, yes

This page has a couple of graphs comparing a OC'd 3570k vs a stock 2500k in CPU benchmarks

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/cpu/38421-intel-core-i5-3570k-22nm-ivy-bridge/?page=9

(210 Euros sounds reasonable to me, but I'm not overly familiar with conversions/taxes etc.)

3570k @ 4.5 will kill a 2500 at 3.3

In some games, almost certainly yes. For example I got a healthy boost (bout 20-25%) in BF3 multiplayer when I OCd 2500k (3,3GHz) to 4,5GHz, its pretty much the same as going from 2500 to 3570k@4,2GHz.
