http://www.overclock.net/t/1438310/tpu-there-is-no-nvidia-780-ghz-sku

This 'ghz' is not a new SKU, it's just a new revision of existing 780 SKU that was released early September. Inno3D labelled their card the 'Ghz' because all of the cards were utilizing the new revision (B2).

While this is very exciting times to be a GPU fan; I can't help but hold back with my two 7970s. Maxwell is supposed to be crazy impressive for performance, stacked VRAM, new fabrication, etc etc.

Basically, we should know what Maxwell is and how it performances in less than a year. I am not sure I would want to dump these 7970s for 2 x 290 or 780 and then Maxwell be as amazing as it sounds like it might be.

Some estimates put Maxwell at potentially double the performance of what early 28nm was.

This is my thinking as well with my 670s. As enticing as these new prices and cards are I have my eyes set on 20nm for my next upgrade. Sadly it will also depend on when AMD's 20nm offering surfaces because I don't want to pay Nvidia prices if R9 390x (or w/e it's called) happens to come to the market in a reasonable time frame after Maxwell.

The HOF is an AMAZING card. Who know what the 780 Ti will really be priced, some are looking at $700

I'd hop on that HOF (or classified) at those prices

You'll be ok waiting for next Gen, since you're on current gen, I'm still with this 470 "patiently waiting" for the right time to buy.

My original plan has been to skip Kepler all together, I didn't want to buy into the $650 780 out of principle that it should've been $499!

I never buy reference designs, so a 780 Classy / Lightning here in Canada ended up being around $800 after taxes.

With the recent price cuts, and renewed competition, I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait for Maxwell. I could pick up a 780, and sell it before Maxwell drops without losing too much.

It's up to you really, 780TI & 290 are coming out next week, one thing is for sure, the 780 prices aren't gonna go higher.

A week from now, that 780 Classy will still be $579 or less.

What if AMD drops the 290X to $499 and the 290 drops at $399, that will shake things up even further.

I want to see what the 290 does first but i meant wait as in like for january to come around? For supposed 28nm Maxwell which i have a hard time seeing or believing. I always thought it would come around next summer.

My reference to 28nm maxwell is on rumor. I could pick up another 7970 but i just don't know what i'll do with them when i'm done. Keep them in my 8320 rig?

GTX 780 Classified is already $550 over in Europe

If the R9 290 launches at $400 it will likely end up <$300 after a year , see HD7950 price drops after a half year. http://www.anandtech.com/show/6093/amd-radeon-hd-7970-7950-7870-price-cuts-inbound-7970ge-available-next-week
