I personally have not seen an increased boot time with either fastboot enabled or disabled.
It's not an increase in boot time, rather there is no change at all. Fast Boot and Hardware Fast Boot are meant to provide a fast boot after shutdown, but they don't.. there is no difference with it enable or disabled (this includes having Fast Boot enabled or disabled in Windows too).

Since I have an old PSU I don't want to play much with the new states.

I don't know if I have fastboot enable (haven't touched it), computers takes 10-15s to cold boot with an SSD.

I did experience the double boot issue yesterday after upgrading my BIOS to the latest release, today when I get home I'll see if it boots normally or not, I hope so.

I also noticed that the keyboard num-lock light stayed ON after shutdown, its connected by PS2. Could not turn it off clicking on the keyboard, but unpluggin it and pluggin back on turned off the light.

As an FYI, for anyone who has a Corsair AIO cooler (this may affect other AIO coolers as well, I'm not sure) that isn't showing up in Corsair LINK, here's the fix:

  • Win + R regedit
  • Navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\VID_1B1C&PID_0C04\
  • For each folder that is named with a string of numbers, letters, and "&" symbols, open it \Device Parameters and change all the DWORD values to 0
  • Reboot

Fast-boot is instant, if it works. That ~15 seconds sounds like a normal boot. Win8 more than likely has Fast boot enabled by default (can't remember anymore). All you have to do is in BIOS enable Fast-Boot and HW Fast-Boot. Boot into windows and shutdown; how was does it come up?

BTW: my board is listed wrong or I entered it wrong. It's obviously Z87-Pro.

Fixed - Google Docs should push the update through within a couple of hours.

Thanks.

So ASUS is notorious for delays in updates. I honestly have not checked what ME firmware they provide in the latest BIOS but if it's older than this, you can update it yourself easily. AFAIK this is still the newest for our boards.

Check what version it is currently (you can also see this in BIOS of course): (Click to show)

Update it via cmd prompt as Admin. Once complete, it tells you to reboot: (Click to show)

The only thing I've installed was the network driver and the chipset driver. I don't use raid, so I'm fine, right?
