SLI 8800GTX Power Consumption

Thread Starter
I'm thinking of going SLI 8800GTX at the end of January, but I was just wondering whether my PSU will be able to handle it... If not I think I'll just have done with it and order myself a 1000w.

Just wanted to see what people's thoughts were... will my HX620 be up to the challenge of 2x 8800GTX's or will it die a horrible death?

Thanks in advance.

I seriously doubt that PSU would be up to the task of 2 8800 GTX and keeping your overclock stable. I would suggest something like the PC Power and Cooling 750 at the very least.

Naw... overkill. PCP&C 750w is good enough. Quad-core+8800GTX SLI runs on a OCZ 700w
Once again...

I've not heard of this PC P&C brand... I'm having trouble finding them possibly since I'm in the UK. >.>

Are the Galaxy, BFG etc PSU's any good, or are you recommending the PC P&C because they are top of the line ?

(Searching for suppliers of PC P&C right now)
EDIT: Found one. Would this do the job?

PC P&C are the best of the best single rail with some stupid number like 60-75 amps more than enough
@ duckie it might run at stock with the 750 but to overclock it might not be enough thats why i said 1000w give a bit of headroom

I'm reading that these are quite large PSU's. Would one fit ok in a CM Stacker 830 ?

Without a doubt, I have the PC Power and Cooling 1KW in my CM Stacker 830 Evo.

My guess is yes, it'll fit within most cases,
if they didn't, they wouldn't sell very well.
Go to the product specifications to verify dimensions.
