[ Build Log ] Airborn's EVGA Hadron

Intro :

Welcome to my build log. The objective of my build is to have a compact pc that I could travel with. In my line of work I travel overseas every 6 months and am always in different locations each time. Over the past few years iv started out with a gaming laptop that I would travel with but being a hardcore gamer I was never fully satisfied with having a small screen and settling with laptop performance vs desktop performance. The last two builds where m-atx builds and every time I had to move, I would have to dissemble the case and then sell the case and travel with just my parts. This time round I opted to move away from a m-atx to a m-itx case. The goal was to find something that was big enough to fit in a powerful gaming setup but still be small enough to through into my carry on when flying internationally. Apart from some prebuilt systems from digital storm and Alienware, etc. Iv had my eyes set on two cases that meet my needs. It came down the new EVGA Hadron air and the NCASE M1.
Right away I ran into the problem of the NCASE being sold out and being in a crowd funding campaign and not in full public production, So that left me with the hadron for a compact yet powerful build. This build log won't be a madly modded and expensive build, nor will it be anywhere as good looking as other builds here on ocn, But it will be at the end a clean, sleek, compact, portable gaming pc.

Build Goals :

This case is awesome and a brand new case from Evga, While this is their first attempt into the pc case market it does has its downsides. The first objective that will have to be tackled is the paint job inside the case. As many people have said here on overclock.net and on many reviews that the paint job is just not up too standards, as it might not bother some people, It will bother me a lot. Secondly those ugly standard psu cables are crying to get beautiful sleeving on them. Later in the build I think a order to mdpc will be needed. And lastly maybe some sort of modding for extra cooling for the gpu, I won't have any idea how to even start thinking about this until I get my hands on the case. The same goes for my CPU cooler. Until I actually get my hands on this case and see how everything is situated in the case I won't be able to make a decision on one, although I have had my eyes on a couple of the flat noctua's.

Amazon Order :

  • Intel I5 4670K CPU @ $219.99

  • Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3-1600 2X4GB @ $74.99

Estimated Delivery Date : 10.29.13

EVGA Order :

  • EVGA Hadron Air with 500 Watt PSU @ $179.99

Estimated Delivery Date : 11.01.13

Update 11.12.13

Ordered some sleeving from LutroO's online store, So sleeving will be done on the stock PSU

Decided on a black/dark gray/white theme. Nothing in my build has a stand out color like blue or red or gold or green, so different shades of black/white i thought would be grand.

Following.

I am planning on building my second mini Itx rig this coming December and i was planning on using this case. But i will try to do a custom water cooled one! I have seen a build by Team EVGA on their Brazil show with a Custom WaterCooled Hadron Air! couldn't find any details on what components they used on it though.
