7990 XT2 vs XT

Hi what is the difference betwen 7990 XT2 and XT version ?

Edit: i see XT2 have 2x 950MHz, Boost: 1000MHz
and XT 2x 900MHz, Boost: 925MHz

How much difference is this ingame ?

Hi, the XT1's are the non-reference 3 slot versions that were released by powercolor and some other companies adopted the design.

XT2's are the reference "malta" cards. They are called XT2's as they came out after the XT1's. Also, it's worth mentioning that the malta cards are quieter, cooler, they use a lot less power and they are not voltage locked.

Yeah, 925mhz vs 1000mhz would be around a 5 fps difference (it depends on the game of course). In a well optimised game like battlefield 3 or 4 I'd say that's realistic.

The malta card has a decent amount of overclocking headroom as well, for example mine can handle a 1100Mhz oc on stock cooling with the fan profile leveling out at ~67% with a peak temperature of 83C in a closed case. And I have run 1170Mhz for benchmarks, on water these can reach +1250Mhz, some even reach 1300 and at those clock's you're looking at a 20 FPS increase in Battlefield 3 biggrin.gif
