AMD Radeon 7990 Reference Card

Thread Starter
Alright everyone so I've been looking around for a few days now and can't seem to find the AMD 7990 reference designed card anywhere to buy, you see I am trying to liquid cool 2 7990's for a system I am building for school (I know that's overkill a little but I have a $20,000 budget so yeah I'm going to do whatever I want lol) because having 2 of those in a case air cooled just isn't such a good idea. Anyway the liquid cooler by XS-PC is for the reference card only and I can't seem to find a way of telling whether or not a card is reference. I would prefer doing the liquid cooling with the full coverage block as well rather than putting a custom waterblock on the GPU chip it self. So does anyone have any idea where I can buy a stock card from? Thanks for the help!

You realize almost all of them are reference but the devil 13 and the powercolor black one with devil 13 cooling right? I just checked newegg and there is plenty of reference design 7990 which you can put underwater thumb.gif

I had heard they aren't mostly reference, by reference I mean the original design layout of where all the RAM and GPU is located on a certain size of board. The water block has to fit on top of all the correct areas. Are you sure they are mostly all reference layouts? Thanks for the reply.

All 7990s in existence have waterblocks for them apart from the ARES II.

Well yes but if they aren't the exact same layout as the reference 7990 (ram and chip layout that is) then the waterblock will do no good.

Newegg has reference 7990 in stock.

Are we sure that the XS-PC waterblock will fit on say the Saphire or VisionTek or XFX card there? Do they all have the reference layout so that the water cooling blocks fit correctly?

Alright thanks guys haha! I appreciate all the responses! I'm pretty excited to do this build, it's going to have dual Intel Xeon's with 8 core's EACH, 64GB of RAM, dual 7990's, 4 512GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD's in a RAID 0 configuration, over 40 TB of storage space, a custom mountain mods case, dual 1500 watt EVGA NEX power supplies, and just about anything else you can imagine. The Xeon's and 7990's will be liquid cooled with a single loop system with 4 pumps. I will be posting a build log of this PC when we finally get the funding on my website at http://www.wordtechreviews.com/build-logs/
With a $20,000 budget just about anything is possible haha!
