i just got my 3770 in the mail. already delidded. the it got clu on the die, and the ihs slid around durning ship and its on the chip pcb. so i wanna clean and reapply before instalation . would rubbing alcohol be good?
yes the higher % rubbing alcohol the better, they give you 70% wipes when you buy clu to clean it off already though.

i didn't order clu. when i bought the already delidded cpu of another member here, he sent a little w/ the cpu so i could reapply.
now i have a second question. got it running on my ga-z68x-ud3h-b3 on bios f12. couldn't go over multiplier 39. so i did a little reading and found that that the f12 bios will support that chip, but only to x39. if i want to go higher i have to flash to the uefi bios..so i did. now i can adjust higher...but won't boot into windows. it blue screens for like 1/2 a second before it restarts. and the only word i can catch on the blue screen is "controller" in the last sentence. i ran system recovery and it says my problem cannot be fixed. do i need to reinstall windows? now that the bios is actually reading the chip right is it clashing with my windows settings? i used to have a 2500k set up in the system.

Try changing your SATA mode from IDE to AHCI or vice versa.
