I guess so. I don't play a modded DayZ or a modded Skyrim. I must have a life.

I'm not much on Skyrim but DayZ was fun before the changes.

Great OC potential? 1240 core on a reference model is pretty impressive, but maybe it was just a lucky sample. I would think a fully-enabled die would have less OC potential, but maybe the new B1 revision really does help with OC potential.

Also, I'm interested in the "special black edition" with no TDP limit. Is TDP limit a BIOS thing? Or a hardware thing?

That's a completely different market where 12GB is something of a requirement. For the consumer market I cannot see it, since it's cost would be so excessive it would make the Titan seem cheap by comparison (vram is expensive as hell). It's not like 4K is even remotely common place amongst enthusiasts anytime soon let alone 4K surround. Which would be the only environment where such excessive memory would be needed. 6Gb is likely though...

Getting pretty hyped about this now. 780 Classified will be on it's way out soon, I need something new to play with.

Glad the competition is heating up. Bring the powah thumbsupsmiley.png

edit: No one needs 12GB on a gaming card. No one. It may be possible but it won't happen.

Never say never. There is probably some nerd locked in his parents basement with triple 30" screens with a highly modded Skyrim that could use every bit of that 12gb.

Yeah, I'm not going to argue with you there. You could conceivably use it in some kind of 4K surround setup but even quad SLI couldn't drive that many pixels well.

I don't feel that I need 6GB but I do think I will need more than 3GB before too long. I'd take a 4GB Ti if it were possible.

You'd need a quad setup to get anywhere near the amount of processing power needed to push a game that uses close to 12GB VRAM. But regardless, I think even 4k-surround would still have trouble hitting 12GBs.

Well, modded Skyrim does like its VRAM. I'm running the RealVision ENB with ~100 texture/graphics mods and I see 3000MBs of VRAM allocation every now and then. Most of the time it just hovers around 2500MBs though (6750mhz memory clock).

Going up to those kinds of VRAM numbers gets even more painful when you do SLI for GPU push but don't get the expanded memory. I wonder how far out we are from cards being able to pool memory instead of mirror it? 24GB GPU ram rawr! lol
