overclocking e6300 help

Thread Starter
ive read all i can. ive got the E6300 w 680i
im trying for 1:1 on a decent oc
my nvidia monitor thing is telling me im at 2.8 ghz
right click on mycomp says same
cpuz and siw argue this with a good point 2.4 ghz is what it should be and thats what theyre showin me.
1600/400 x6 =2400 thats whats in the BIOS is there any reason atall to believe the computer is running anythin other than 2.4 ghz? is it even possible for it to be different than what ive set?
im ready to go further but i dont want to do anything until i know one way or another and so

who knows the answer? hopefully someone who knows their stuff has experienced this. help me...

the ram is also displayed as 933 mhz on nvidia monitor, 800 on siw and 400 on cpuz. (i get the 800/400 part)

dont really get the ram timings thing either so thats the last piece of the puzzle, if anyone has the time maybe u can explain the effect of changing the timings of the ram which i havent tried yet and suggest whether/how i should go about it. ive tried to find the right thread for this but i still dont understand

help me make this the machine it wants to be

prob useless info:

7900GS (any help how to oc this past 600/800 on this setup also appreciated)

if u've got it at 400 x 6on the bios that should be the right answer,i thinnk its saying 2.8 on my computer because it still thinks u've got the 7 x multiplyer instead of the 6 x one. The nvidia monitor wont be as accurate as the bios and cpu-z. the 800mhz ram is set right with youe fsb. You want to try and get your ram timings as low as possable , to do this lower one each time and go onto windows and see if it is stable of not. try 4-4-4-12. hope this has helped.
