My 7850 OC temps in BF4

Sapphire 7850 I've had for 1.5 years. It was OCd to 1200/5400 up until about 2 months ago when it got a little unstable and I had to back it down to 1160/5400. It runs BF4 excellent I think--all settings on high except MSAA at 2x instead of 4x. Even in the most intense maps the Fraps benchmarks average about 55 with a low of 46 so far.

My only issue is temp. Using Trixx to OC it maxes at 81c, although the average is 77. Is that level a concern? That's with the fan on auto, so I do have the option of upping the fan speed if that's pushing the card. Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't be to concerned 81c is still within the okay temps.. My gtx 580 used to hit 80-81 on the hottest summer days and I would worry but it was fine for its entire life and its still kicking..

I would say if your super worried reapply the thermal past and if youd like a 3rd party cooler. you could probably get your old OC back smile.gif

Thanks for the recommendation. Do you think it's my cooler/fan kicking the high OC down? I just assumed the GPU was getting older. I had the same thing happen to my e6750 processor after about 3 years of running 24/7 on a really high OC.

What cooler would you recommend, this one?

The Accelero coolers are awesome! You will will notice much lower temps and it will be much quieter. Just be aware that the coolers are large and will make your GPU take 2.5 slots.

They also offer 3 fan coolers.

so i just decided to apply some AS5 to my HSF on the GPU and i played for about half an hour and the max temp was 70, with an average of 65. that alone is a crazy reduction of 11 degrees!

i tried to OC back to 1200 with a pretty immediate crash in Heaven, so i think the GPU has definitely aged a little. hopefully the reapplication of the TIM will prolong it's life at the current clock a bit longer than expected, though.

Awesome I am glad to hear that helped! Yeah I am sorry to hear the OC wasn't working out frown.gif I suppose that's the risk when run when OC'ing is the degradation over time

The accelero coolers are amazing and would certainly reduce noise and temps even further!
