That's just me, and since "it's all about me" that's all that matters.
But seriously, it was a good review for the crew that enjoys numbers for their maximum ep33n waving. But then the rubber meets the road, for the 99.9% of the gamers out there, I just don't see gaming in that sort of resolution and where the 8 FPS will make that much difference. I mean come on, at 3840x2160 we are talking 24FPS for a 290X and 23FPS for a GTX, and 41FPS vs 33FPS for 4K. BOTH are under 60FPS (and 120FPS which some people whine about) and even in 5760x1200, you are looking at 52.1FPS for an R9 290X vs 47.3FPS for a GTX 780. Again, both under 60, and both way above 30, and only 5FPS separating them.
R9 290X or GTX 780 ... they will BOTH play well. Now that nVidia has dropped their price to $500, a pair of them for $1000 and 6 games vs $1100 and no games (or is it 2 now for AMD) ... you will be able to enjoy games for years to come ... single monitor (1080p, 1440p, 1600p, or even 4K) or even triple monitors, for a while to come.
Most people don't run flgship GPUs either.. triple display is gaining a lot of steam because it's getting downright cheap. Heck I enjoy my 23" 1080p LED monitors and they are about $140/ea (actually $100/ea for me since i bought them refurbished), which is why I'm planning on a 5x1 setup with them. And yes they show 5-6 fps difference in some games, but it's still 15-20%, and when even one setting is turned down, the game is still 20% higher on the 290X, but now playable. I've played BF3 on eyefinity on medium settings with a single 6950, and it really wasn't overly noticeable difference personally to ultra. Also, if you were fps gaming with 2 monitors, you're doing it wrong. Of course the bezel is going to drive you crazy because the crosshairs are on the bezel! With 3 monitors or 5 monitors this isn't an issue...
