And according to complaints on Twitter, Reddit, and the official EA forums, we aren’t the only ones. Widespread reports of random crashes and freezes are popping up everywhere, and it seems that some players can’t finish a single match without problems.

The crashes and instability seem to be happening on all sorts of hardware configurations, And when it does crash or freeze, players loose all progress, unlocks, and stats they accumulated during the match.

So far DICE has only issued the generic “we are aware of the issue” reply. If only they were aware before the game shipped. It’s astounding that these sort of issues have plagued every single Battlefield game since BF2. And yet, we somehow expected a developer of DICE’s caliber to learn from their mistakes.

From personal experience, over half of Battlefield multiplayer matches result it either a crash or a freeze. Most of the rest of the matches are unplayable due to the lag and rubber banding issue.

It hurts us to say this, but at this point, we wouldn’t recommend anyone getting Battlefield 4 on the PC. Wait until the first patch or two fix these issues. Or get the game on consoles, where it seems to be running great.

I'm getting these issues too, this is what happens when devs consolize their games.

Not even a CoD fan but when it outsells BF4 don't be surprised, the game actually works when it releases.

Uhm Pretty sure COD has released and had plenty of bugs and mp servers go down for a week... stuff happens not sure why so many are crying over something that will be fixed soon. Far from unplayable....

I had 2 directx crashes but that's because I caused it on purpose. I've had 1 ctd, and 0 server crashes and pretty bad lag/rubber banding sometimes. Other than that, perfectly smooth and working great!
I feel like the issues are caused by medium/low end systems that just can't handle the game...

I'm pretty sure if it were almost any other game this would be an intense bash thread, but generally, it seems a majority of OCN loves Battlefield unconditionally.

I was gonna buy BF4, but then I saw millions of threads popping up on EA's forums and then held back...sounds like its a major widespread issue and hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Full Disclosure: I write software professionally, but not games. I've been doing it for 20y now.

After the beta drop, I was very nervous because, for me, it blew big chunks. But, so far, the game runs fine on my rig.

But, as for the bugs and crashes: it should be expected for every new game. There's always going to be a disconnect between systems used for development versus the systems folks will be using to play the game. It's virtually impossible to test for every combination of pc components.

Now, having said that, maybe their open beta should have lasted a little longer, but then you run into the politics of shipping and blah blah blah.

I'm sure a lot of issues will be addressed in the coming days, weeks, months...

My 2 cents...

Happened to me on the storyline for some odd reason, dog tags and weapon unlocks are missing. I got through the credits fine and everything but nothing is there. Going to replay it this weekend, a few hours of my time wasted. No biggie....mad.gif

In other news, thousands of people do not know how to update their punk buster manually and select games with a suitable ping...

Im only joking, I am sure there are issues as with most games these days, its sad to see games rushed out and not full completed/polished off . It spoils the game in some regards.

My thought on this is that it is a terrible thing that with the way games release now, it is acceptable for a game to have issues at release simply because it is just released. Is it unplayable, probably not, but does that make it ok? not at all.

We are seeing more games "release early" and have issue, it is just an excuse for developers to be lazy and let the consumer be there bug testers.
