Looking to upgrade my Radeon HD 6870

Thread Starter
Since next-gen gaming is coming around the corner, I was thinking about upgrading my Gigabyte Radeon HD 6870 to something new. I was looking into either getting the Geforce 770 or 780. Also I have kept my eye on for the R9 280x and the R9 290x. Does anybody think I should upgrade and if so which card should I upgrade to? Or should I wait for Navidia or AMD to come out with the next thing?

Buy the best thing you can afford, so in this case a GTX 780 or an R9 290. You're going to have to wait a bit for aftermarket coolers on the 290/x though unless you want a reference one.

i had a 6870 and it played all the games at lower settings my 7950 and 7970 play. i had vram issues in BF3, so i replaced it with the 7950. my 7950 can max out BF4 using 1080 no problem.

6870

7950 oc'ed to 7970 GHz speed easy.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/7399896

just estimates

770/280/7970 = 2 6870

780/290 = 4 6870

oc'ing your cpu (whatever it is) will help in any of these gpus especially the latter.
