Question about monitors in general, been a long time since I've bought one. - Page 2

I plan on uping my system soon, and right now I have two 6870s anyways, a bit of an upgrade from the one, but I understand past 1440 I'll have problems, but I'm not into maxing out the newest games anyways, I mostly play MMOs, DOTA II and watch movies with my girl.

I saw this for a new egg black friday sale, would you say this is a good deal, then I could buy a much more expensive 27inch monitor and use this as a TV instead?

Again, sorry, I know very little and I'm asking general questions but I don't know the questions to be specific.

Also, is there a big difference between 5MS and 8MS response times?

Actually, just kidding, this seems to be a better deal for a much better screen. It's WAY bigger, but I could use this as a monitor for now until I decide to get a monitor, I'm not sure.

Suggestions?

i have found newegg spam flyer sales to be often extremely underwhelming. like "that's more than what it cost two weeks ago not on sale" underwhelming.

pcpartspicker.com will at least search multiple sites for you. Doesn't touch open box or used stuff though.

Well personally I'd buy a 42" 720p plasma for the same price. At 6mbps or whatever, it's not like netflix or most streaming services can use all that resolution anyway, so mind as well improve picture quality everywhere else. There are some really nice 42" 1080p plasmas by panasonic, but I don't know if you can get them for under $450 or so. However... the walmart TV would be fine, and 1080p is a plus. Just look at it in store, if you can, and make sure it has some decent viewing angles.

I ran 2560x1440/96hz on 2 6850s for a really long time, and was quite happy. Sure I impulse bought my 7950 for $200 off craigslist and it's obviously an upgrade, but games looked great on my old crossfire setup. You just can't use tons of AA and have to tweak some settings in a few specific games with bad memory management, like Skyrim or Bioshock Infinite.

EDIT: Also, craigslist is a good thing. People on it want to move their stuff fast, so you can get some rock bottom prices on TVs and hardware if you haggle.
