[CNET] Google to Samsung Galaxy Nexus owners: No KitKat for you

Thread Starter
Google feels the Galaxy nexus is too old( 18 months), but the phone is capable to run Kit Kat as the phone is well above the minimum requirements set by Google.

Does this mean that all NEXUS devices will get support for only a year and half?

First of all this is a repost.

Second: the principal issue here probably is Ti no longer supporting the OMAP SOC in Galaxy Nexus, Google can't officially support it without official drivers.

Also the Galaxy Nexus came out 2 years ago, not just 18 months ago.

This is exactly why.

With Kit Kat being able to run on devices with only 512mb of memory, the Gnex will no doubt get 4.4 roms, only running on an kernel compatible with the chipset.
