SLi'g for first time recommendations, pointers, hints, ?!

So I'm going to SLI for the first time I already read the SLI FAQ's and was already aware of most of the info there do you guys have any other pointers or hints or suggestions :

Example:

Don't ever do this "____"?
When the game does not support SLi do this ________
turn of your auxiliary (2nd) by doing this_________
Beware of____________

IF you do xx, and y, you should be able to get better benefits. etc.

Atm I have one with Watercooling the other its on its way.

Should I go right ahead and buy muy other block (so they have similar tempos) or will this not affect as lonjg as they dont go over 70 degrees?

It's pretty straightforward really. Just plug and play mostly.
If a game does not work, disable SLI (very rarely needed).

Get Nvidia inspector though, some games work better with SLI profiles from other games/engines. But again, most work like they should if there is a SLI profile for it. Some games without native SLI support can also work with adding a SLI profile from something else.

There is no rush to buy a second block, but expect higher temps and not as high overclock (Results may vary).
You can push the card to 80c before it starts to throttle core clock, and 90c is safe too, but preferable under 80c.

have you already bought the 2nd card. for 1440p the 2GB VRAM is a bit of a bottleneck. you can drop settings a bit and still avoid VRAM bottlenecks and get very smooth fps. but if that is the case at 1440p you can run most games at high settings (one below the max which would be very high or ultra) with a single GTX 680 and still get playable fps.

yeah i would say return the card. wait for Nov 5th. check out R9 290 and then take a decision yourself. massive 4GB VRAM. 64 ROPs. built for 1440p and higher res gaming. consistency of a single gpu. i would though recommend you to buy a custom R9 290. should be out by nov end. thumb.gif
