As far AS THE OP'S TITLE ASKS .. get the ZxR. The only limitation is 5.1 speakers, 7.1 is out. The similar Asus STX only does 2 channels output unless you're going the optical > receiver route.

Whoops, sorry I was off on the MMX 300s, but my first choice is still the VModa M100s as I said before. And if you're implying we've been missing OP's question by discussing headsets, he asked for headset/headphones as well as a soundcard.

Ya the new mmx300 takes on the same characteristics as the dt770 250 ohm rather than the 32 or 80 ohm. Smoother and flatter response.

But they are still based on the series to an extent.

OP - Seeing as you're into music, then go for the bassy,detailed and affordable Philips Fidelio X1's for open backs (with a V-Moda boom mic to make it into a headset); or a MMX 300 for a closed back design. Get the ZxR. Let the cans burn in. Sorted

yea honestly i only really listen to rap, i mean i guess i listen to sum other stuff every once and a while, but i would not care about any other music but hip hop and rap.


thank you all for the recommendations. I'm still not sure about sound card tho.

No sound card can drive speakers....period end of story. Get a dac and amp.
