im not audiophile and dont know much about ohms and such for headphones. ive been in the market for a new pair and have been looking towards a few. the audio technica and beyerdynamics. but of course there are so many version for each pair that it makes it even harder to pick a pair.

for the beyerdynamics, i love the looks of them and they seem to have good reviews.
150$ - dt990-pro 250ohm http://tinyurl.com/lxjbpea
300$ - 32 ohm version.
330$ - 600 ohm version.

beyerdynamic dt880 pro
http://tinyurl.com/kalckyg

215$ 250 ohm version.

beyerdynamic dt880 premium
350$ 32 ohm version
350$ 250 ohm verison.

audio technica are beautiful looking.

Audio Technica ATH-AD700 32 ohm - 200$
http://tinyurl.com/koseko2

Audio-Technica ATH-AD700X - 140$ (on sale)
http://tinyurl.com/lqoeacp

Audio Technica ATH-A700X - 115$(on sale)
http://tinyurl.com/lxqwe8v

with the audio technicas that were listed, im not sure what the AD version has over the regular A version, so dont know which are better.

so with 2 different brands and each one having 3 headphones that are each available. im not sure what i should be looking to get.

money isnt to much of an issue, if i were to take out the prices from the ones i listed and just see which were better in general without price in consideration.

First off, never pay $300 for a ath-ad 700 they gor for like 60 on ebay all the time.

what sound card/dac/headphone amp are you using? you can't run 600 or 300 or 150 ohm headphones without one.

64 ohms and anything less is ok... but a sound card at least always makes stuff sound better. personally I say get the a700x, thats a steal for $115.

Man that's a nice looking motherboard.

It looks like it could probably handle 250ohm headphones too. I'd narrow it down to a couple headphones from that list.

DT880 250 pro - Semi open, neutral
DT990 250 pro - Open, V-shaped meaning slightly boosted bass and treble
AD700 and 700x - Open, very little bass presence but very airy. Makes them good for sound positioning in gaming. A700x is the closed version of these, so there is a little more bass and you lose a little airy-ness.

I usually recommend the DT990, most people find it enjoyable for music/movies and it is still a nice open design for game positioning. The premium beyers are the same drivers with nicer materials used on the cups and headband, although not really any more durable.

Op, you didn't state how are you going to use the headphones? is gaming or music a priority? what kind of games? you want fun bass, or accurate bass?

well i mean, i wouldnt mind if i used it outside of on my computer and such. but it would be mostly used when on the computer. im not much into heavy bass where is absurdly stupid. i usually have EQ set to more voice than anything. so more accurate sound is more my taste. id probably use the headphones as well when im listening to music on my phone when out and about as well. so a pair of headpones that are all around good.

i would consider buying 2, as long as i knew they were both good lol. i know each brand have their pros and cons. and just wanting to make sure they were worth picking up. are those that are listed good, or are there better out there for that range. usual limit is 300 bux i suppose. i just got worried about having so many different models of the same type just different ohm type which i dont even know if lower or higher is better lol.
