Got for profit hospitals where I have to wait 2 moths to see my primary care physician, For profit trash collection that offesrs less services and costs half again what the municipal stuff does on the other side of town, and for profit networking that is expensive, unreliable, and slow.
The Chicago school economists worshiped by the right wing are completely full of it.
What never seemed to occur to them was that the efficiencies brought to bare by 'for profit' organisations over the 'bloated inefficient unionised public sector' would not mean savings passed onto the customer but instead more dividends paid to shareholders. With short term profit and share price above all else being the deciding factor there is inevitably little to no investment in the future of the services. Yeah competition drives down prices in the short term until inevitably cartels form or buyouts form a near monopoly. The customer always loses in the end both in terms of the cost and the quality of the service.
Sure even Michael Dell realises this and has taken Dell private again to free him from the short term profit thinking shareholders so that he is free to plan for the future.
