freezing on start up help windows7

Thread Starter
been having problems lately with, on start up, the computer being frozen for a few minutes and then back to normal.

ive updated every driver i could, virus scan, deleted things from the actual start up, malware scans... still nothing fixes it. the HDD light is solid during this, and sometimes the screen will white out, and other times there will be a small program box with windows heading.

i think its windows related, and not sure what to do to check, after the few min of waiting for it come back.... the computer works fine and is normal.

thanks for any help

When you manage to boot it up, open an elevated command prompt (cmd run as administrator), then run a chkdsk /r /f on all drives, one drive at a time. It would look like this: CHKDSK /R /F C: (this command checks for file system errors, and bad sectors on the drive C:)
So if you have 3 disks, C:, D:, E:, you would have to run 3 different chkdsk runs. This equals to 3 reboots typically, unless you have hotswap drives.
Afterwards you run the SFC /SCANNOW command.

I think you have software that block your inputs in startup. Check your startup

well i went start up yesterday... somehow my drives were "filled" when checked in diskpart and said there was no boot manager.... so extra clean install happened and everything is running smooth... still no idea what happened before.
