[cooling concept Oil/Water] T-Virus LAVA MOD

Thread Starter
hi there smile.gif
final update
Not As Expected ... but here's the final video of the real T virus
change color from green to red / orange if water is thicki'm trying to mod my LEVEL 10 GT case into a phoenix

and a lava lamp crossed my mind

LAVA , the blood of phoenix
T virus is the heart

so my idea is to use
Water + red UV dye
mineral oil + (yellow uv glow in the dark pigment )

mineral oil floats on water

so loop one will pump Hot water
loop 2 will pump Cold oil
0/make the top inlet longer
1/ pump red water from top
2/ drain water from bottom
3/pump yellow oil from top
4 drain yellow oil from top

result :

Video of 3D simulation :

UPDATE V 0.2 correct Gravity :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5wqwr0LgbQ&feature=youtu.be

please feel free to add ideas or help

Might work, but you will need to take extra care ensuring your loops are air free, lest you run the oil loop dry if the fluid level drops below your oil pump nozzle. I would keep a larger supply of oil just to move that down and keep a healthy amount above that.

Would be interesting to see the effect when an occasional bulb of oil gets sucked into the water loop. Make videos of your leak test.

voila , i made the correct fluid density ( after gravity change) and 2 separate simulation cache

the LAVA mod should be like this
now i have to wait for the T-virus 3 days shipping DHL
and the dye from FrozenCpu still under packing ....

the oil will cool the water , i talked with a pneumatic student , i hope it works

since Oil will not mix with water so there's no chance that the heat will go back to the Hot loop

Which oil was that? Are you sure your oil was compatible with the idea of having water around? Dyes? Can you identify which part of the pump died? Was it the bearing, or some other type?

Clearly there was a reaction, just have to identify what it is. Do you have litmus paper or something like that? You could measure your oil’s acidity and compare it to original, this would at least let you know whether you should expect a salt deposit in your loop.

Oil will mix with water. The reason the pump crapped out is forcing the sludge it made. It will make an extremely high viscous sludge that will destroy a pump that sensitive. The oil will eventually separate in time. Think of Italian salad dressing. I can't recall the exact name of what it's called when oil & water are combined, I think it's a solution, since it will not mix or blend. Hydraulic fluid, diesel, crude oil, they all will make a solution with water. However, they all won't make a sludge like the thinner oils (hydraulic, baby oil, etc.) And some will separate quicker than others. If you run that cup of sludge in a centrifuge it will separate with baby oil on top due to lower weight.
Edit: it's called an emulsion
