So would the R9 290x be the best one now. Then I could get another one later to have dual cards. And the new 780 ti coming out??

I have a 7970 and it is nothing special.

Wait for the 290 before you decide.

The reference cooler of a single 290X can barely handle the heat. Unless you're going to put them under water, I wouldn't bother. Or you could wait for non-ref cards and see how well they do.

Which card do you consider special?

When Isn't special I mean that I mean that I have to drop settings in some games.

Recommending a new gpu to someone they shouldn't have to drop settings out of the box.

good idea I may wait till the OC 290x versions come out with the new coolers. I'm not in a rush. I have a SAPPHIRE 100358L Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition I can just run that till the others come out. I would like to be sure I have cards strong enough o run 4K resolutions. 2 OC 290x's should do the trick.
