Ivy Bridge E Owners Club - Page 57

Hello everyone, I have the opportunity to take a 4930k with the batch 3332B037 and wanted to know if any of you could tell me if it is good as a batch. thanks

For those with RIVE BE and Ivy-E, is the latest BIOS update worth it ? Any specific issues with it ?

..btw, some early 4960X / ES results w/DICE per FtW, who currently has one of the two 4960 ES chips I mentioned. Note its cooled to -70 C

Looking for some opinions...I was in microcenter and I just couldnt pass up the rampage b.e. I spent all my $$ I had saved for water cooling parts to get the board and the only processor I could afford at the time, the 4820k for $269. I haven't opened the processor yet and am wondering if I should wait and exchange it for a 4930k @ $529 before my return time expires? Play mostly Battlefield 4 on my current pc. I always really wanted the 4930k, but now wonder if I should put that $260 toward maybe a kingpin or a couple newer cards for the rivbe as I currently run a 670ftw. I have two of them but they are 2gb cards and I am currently on a 1080p screen so I don't have them sli.
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but I wanted some ivy-e owner opinions! Thanks!

If you have the opportunity to exchange for a 4930k, I will do it. Especially for Battlefield.

Would definately go for the 4930K if you can. It's pretty much a given that having bought the best board, you'll want the best cpu and will eventually get a 4930 or 4960 anyway. Might as well save yourself time and money and return the 4820 now, while you can get full price with a return vs. selling the 4820 later for less than what you paid.
Your 670's sli'd will do fine until you can save up and sell them to upgrade to a better gpu(s).

Sorry to DBL post, but didn't want to confuse topics with my previous response.

Just switched bios settings over from a great stable offset overclock to a manual one and was pleasantly surprised to see my R15 scores go up with same clock on manual. I had previously ran my 3770k with offset for quite some time after hitting it's wall and am a bit rusty on manul oc's, so please bare with me.
I should be able to get a more stable oc at lower voltage since I'm forcing a constant voltage and clock speed vs. all the fluctuations of offset., correct? Also, I'm wondering what a safe 24/7 offset would be on these chips? I tried for 4.9, but having t cross the 1.45v threshold for a 4.9ghz 24/7 oc didnt seem appealing. I'm presuming the lower the voltage and the clock, the better off you would be with degradation and longevity of the chip.
