You should have no issues going way beyond 2.8ghz...try more like 3.4-3.6ghz

Kudos on the mobo, as its producing some of the best numbers around, maybe consider betting the 7800gs over the 7600 as the price diff is only like 50$ and the performance gain is quite a bit. Overall good rig...good luck.

*804 bios FTW!! Oh and dont forget to bump the PCI-e freq up around 110mhz or so..it'll give you a small bump in GPU performance.

His ram will limit him to 3.0-3.2ish (unless he uses a dreaded divider ) I think you mean 7900gs over the 7600gt.. and do you have that the 110mhz PCI-E freq actually increases performance?

Phew, just finished unpacking everything, I've installed the cpu, with the big typhoon on it. (almost forgot the artic silver5.) The ram has also been installed. Now working on putting it in the case, but I'm having trouble removing that damn hdd cage in order to put the PSU in. Almost almost hurt my back holding that case without scratching it.

ps. thnx for the suggestion on the gpu, but the 7600gt has been purchased already, I'll probably get a dx10 card later on, but for now I doubt I'd need anything great as my monitor is only 1024x768. I've also read somewhere people say put the pci-e as 133 instead of 100. Regular pci set as 33? mhz?

lol, new problem, the jumpers in the hdd's are so far inside, I'm having problem getting them out.
psu is installed, phew.

Hells yeah, got me over 2500point increase in AM3...dont have the BIOS screenies to show....but a before and after of the AM3 scores.
My personal best =

cpu @ 3.6ghz / 450mhz FSB
RAM 1:1, 4-4-4-14-4 @ 2.3v
7900gt KO/vmod->1.4vcore, 2.28mem @ 651core/1880mem
PCI-e freq-> 114mhz

score- 165,???

{w/ PCI-e @ 100mhz, my best was around 161,00}

Ok I've put the whole thing together, and as I had feared, something may be wrong with the system. It won't detect my keyboard. I'm using the purple jack for the keyboard. I also keep getting a chassis intruded! Fatal Error...System halted.

btw, I'm not using a wireless keyboard, I used a generic wired one and also a dell one

are you getting any beep codes, and make sure the keyboard plug is pushed in all the way. i know it sounds silly but new boards have a tight plug and it might require some force.

Turns out I used an extra one of those gold screw things below the mobo, it was right below the sodering of the plug for the keyboard, so it disabled it. What sux is I went back and forth working on the rig, laying the case down and standing it straight up. Lesson learned: ARMOR IS HEAVY

No overclocking yet, using TAT to test my temp, right now it's coming up as 34C idle. Is it me or does that seem a little high before overclocking and stress?

use coretemp to get the real temps on your system, it should be in the low 40's to high 30's with coretemp. http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/
