so tomorrow we will know whats the improved perf of R9 290X and the R9 290 looking like. looks like 1080p will still go to GTX 780 Ti. But for 1440p / 1600p it should be close. higher up at 4k and eyefinity R9 290X should lead.

waiting for his response to this

Gibbo any word if these drivers improve all GCN cards or is it just limited to 290/290X. Another 12.11 never settle sure would be a nice way to deliver a message.

learnt the hard way with BLT and Provantage regarding the 290X

*list a competitive price to attract orders*

then when the cards launch and their price isn't a good enough profit;

BLT is probably just having supplier issues. It seems like usual Amd has not anticipated the amount of demand

I am so tired of people saying clock-for-clock doesn't matter. Yes, it does. Especially at this point in time when the 290X hasn't been out for long, and especially to a water cooler like me. On air, the 780 and 780 Ti will obviously OC better than the 290X. But under water? It seems its about the same. The 290X under water will EASILY do 1200 and probably get up to around 1300, and 780s will probably also top out around 1300Mhz under water unless they're golden chips.

If you do the math, the 780 Ti with 2880 cores is has a clock 1.233x faster than the 290X with less cores, yet it only performs 1.157x better than the 290X in the graphics score. To add to that, supposedly the new drivers releasing Tuesday provide huge performance increases for the 290 and 290X. Trust me, I really want to buy a 780 Ti, but these numbers worry me.

Also, why is WCCFTech even considered a credible news source?

I wonder how much the 6Gb and 12Gb variants are going to cost. I'm all over the 6Gb regardless.

Looks good. I think the presentation here is a bit misleading though. The 290X shows much higher performance gains when overclocked than the Green Team's offerings; and I don't think I've seen a single R290 that was incapable of hitting 1100MHz with the reference cooler. And unless this is actually new silicon, I wouldn't expect to see 1300MHz overclocks on every chip. If anything, without some sort of magic sauce, you can expect this chip to overclock slightly worse than Titan.

From this, I'd say we're back to apples-to-apples performance. Not unimpressive, considering they're still using GK110.
