Advice on a complete System for Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Corel

Thread Starter

Hey guys

A friend's fiancee needs a good desktop PC for Adobe Illustrator. Which GPU should she look into?

Also I am thinking of a 4770k, a cheap motherboard as there won't be any OCing or SLI. A 450W PSU and 8gbs of ram.

What do you guys think?

no reason to go 4770k if there's no intent for OC'ing.

I don't know about the GPU stuff though

Yeah I thought about that just now. We will be getting a non K version. And preferably 4570... I know i7 4770 will be better but they don't mind the difference. We are trying something as cost effective as possible. Here is what I have so far.

Tell me if this is overkill for Adobe Illustrator, Photosop and Corel

GPU : GTX 650ti

CPU : i5 4570 i7 4770

Motherboard : Asus H-81 PLUS ... http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H81PLUS/

DVD RW : Asus

PSU : Corsair VS 550W. ( I wonder if we can get away with a lower PSU)

RAM : Corsair Vengeance 2*4 Ram 1600mhz

HDD : Seagate Barracuda 1TB (cant buy SSD now)

Monitor : I recommended an IPS monitor for best colors. Viewsonic VX2270smh will be purchased later.

Let me know guys if you think these are overkill or underkill for the above mentioned purposes.

The setup will NOT be OCed and will NOT be used for gaming.

Edit : Monitor taken off from the above list for now and 4570 replaced with 4770.

Get an AMD system - save money -- and invest in an SSD and fast, abundant RAM -- that's where you will notice performance increases/decreases - with IO stuff.

Yeah I was just reading about it. I am not too familiar with AMD builds especially on CPU scale. Any recommendations?

I was actually thinking of maybe a i7 4770 + AMD GPU combo now. Should I really go for AMD CPU and GPU?

Edit :

Or perhaps can she use 4770 only for the time being without any dedicated GPU?

I'd go with a Vishera (Piledriver) -- here's a 6-core 3.9 GHz for $140 -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113327

Then grab whatever GPU you can get that gives you the most CUDA cores/ stream processors for the money ( be it NVIDIA or AMD)

Samsung 840 EVO SSD -- a cheap well-reviewed motherboard and a 450-500W well-made PSU.

About the CPU unfortunately it seems we do not have that in Turkey.

These are our only AMD alternatives

Anything similar to Vishera from that list?

+rep btw. Thank you.

Thanks mate I appreciate it.

Actually that CPU seems a great price/performance CPU and that what matters for my friend at the time being.

I found a review here

They will have to pay 3 times the money for a 4770 and gain barely 2 times the performance. What about motherboard

Would this do? Plain and simple

http://www.vatanbilgisayar.com/Anakart/msi-760gm-p23-(fx)-760gm-p23-(fx)-am3+-amd-760g+sb710-ddr3-1333mhz-dvi&vga-anakart/productdetails.aspx?I_ID=57118

Just will be adding a GPU thats it.
