1440p with 2xsli gtx 670 - Page 2

Like watching TV shows or something? 2560x1440 is the same ratio as 1920x1080, so it will be just like watching a 720p movie or YouTube video on a 1080p monitor.

Like playing a game, for example, if I'm playing something like crysis or witcher and I set 1080p through in game settings for more fps...would the image still use the entire screen? Because those black bars are really annoying. Certain intensive games I'd rather revert to 1080p and use AA so I don't fall under 60fps.

It doesn't work the way your thinking it works...I have 3 1440p monitors and i have tried what your saying more than once and it doesn't look good at all. Looks better to just buy a 1080p monitor. I am not sure why it looks worse but it just does. Don't buy a 1440p monitor to reduce the resolution, it just doesn't work out well.

Yeah in theory it woud be the same as playing in 720p on a 1080p monitor, should scale up fine.

....?

If you're really worried, don't buy one now, just wait for newer hardware and cheaper monitors

*Edit - Thanks for at least expanding on that a bit

a 780 is perfect for 1440p...SLI 670s are faster than a 780!

I've had both. Every single game is perfectly fine at 1440p with plenty of performance to spare. You can also run 1080p on the monitor just fine. You just won't care to though bc you wouod have already been too spoiled by 1440p.

Go for it!!!

Finally got to checkout the FPS. I was playing in a demanding area, high winds, waves and 4 tanks... the lowest I saw the FPS drop was to 75. Two 670s FTW! smile.gif
