Connecting PS3 to PC monitor (Sound issue)

Thread Starter
Hi,

My current predicament is that I want to connect my PS3 to my Monitor (DELL U3011H).

The monitor itself does NOT have speakers, but I do have speakers that are connected to my computer (CORSAIR SP2500). The speakers have 2 extra 3.5mm inputs apart from the connection to the computer.

Question is: Would it be possible to run HDMI from the PS3 to my monitor, then 3.5 AUX from my monitor to my speakers?

I've heard that some people get sound distortion or ridiculously loud sound coming out via this method.

Is there any other way of dealing with this situation?

That should work, Or you can grab the AV adapter for the ps3 and use that as output for audio. I have no experience with audio from monitor though.

Use HDMI to your monitor for the video.

As for the audio, just use the original A/V cable that was supplied with your PS3, plug that into your PS3 and set that as your audio out, then you can plug those into your speakers. If they don't plug in then you'll need a 2 to 1 Y splitter for 3.5mm
