Thinking about adding another 1tb HDD to my computer

Hey guys, I am running out of space on my hard drive currently and I am a bit confused about installing a new one. I mostly use my hard drive for games on steam, so would I be able to install more games on the new hard drive and still play my old games off of the old HDD? Also, if I were to get an ssd, would it be possible to reinstall windows on it yet still keep all of my old files? Thanks and please excuse my ineptitude.

Yep, have a look at steam mover
http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover

EDIT: Q2, Most SSDs come with some sort of imaging software on disk.
Or just have a google for HDD cloning software

In Steam, you can specify multiple game locations. Then steam will simply ask you which place you want to install to when you go to install a game. Its a fairly new feature, but it works fine.

You could also move Steam completely onto the new drive. Its easy- move the Steam folder, delete everything except Steam.exe and the folder called Steam apps, and Start Steam.

As for replacing your boot HD with an SSD, you can either migrate the existing Windows installation or Install Windows from scratch and then go back and copy everything you want from your old drive.

Personally, I just move the Windows install whole. I've had the same Windows install for 3 different boot HDs. I just use a Linux boot DVD to do it. You have to really know what you're doing to do it my way, though!
