BIG problem with my build, BLANK BLACK SCREEN

Thread Starter
Ok i want to be as detailed as i can about this.
My rig is

Asus crosshair V foumula
Asus GTX 660ti OC
Kingston hyper x 8gb RAM (2x4)
kingston hyper x SSD 120gb
WD 3tb HDD
AMD 8350 cpu
EVGA 750w gold PSU
Phantom 820 Case

Today i was switching the CPU stock cooler to a CM Hyper EVO 212 cooler, but i wanted to fix all my cables, and work on my build, so i took it all apart, completely, now when i set it back up, all the fans turned on, all the lights turned on, all the LED's turned on on the MOBO. But my screens are completely black……I've triple checked all the cables, everything is plugged in, both the 4 pin cpu and the 8 pin are both connected. 24 pin, gnu 8 pins, fan headers into fan controller, front panel connectors, usb 2.0x2 usb 3.0, front panel audio, cpu fan. I checked over and over, i did nothing wrong while installing cpu fan. I read instructions, watched youtube videos, everything possible. I had my grounding wrist band on at all times, used my motherboard box as ant static work station, used video card box to set gpu on. I have NOOOO idea why this is happening, the computer was working FINE before this…..also i did NOT apply to much thermo past, or i didn't put to little.

1)Does the monitor receive a signal at all?

2)What else have you tried? (like disconnecting un-needed extras or drives)

3)Do you have a sufficient power supply for what you need to run?

4)Does the motherboard post, but the OS not load?

5)Do you have a debug LED? (it's less common on motherboards, but would help)

Hope you find out soon!

Have you reset the Bios/Cmos? You may try unplugging everything except for CPU, 1 Stick of ram, and remove GPU if you have on-board video available. If it will post after that start plugging stuff back in 1 at a time to see what is causing your issue.

Edit: Just saw you've tried some of that, You say you see the ASUS logo, Is that from the Bios or do you also have an ASUS monitor? Can you hit Del and get into the bios when you see the logo?

do you have a speaker connected to the motherboard,,,if you read the manual,,,there is beep codes,,,,also the motherboard will have built in LEDs,,around the board,,,,1 for cpu,,,ram ,,gpu,,also you may want to reseat the CPU,,just because you pulled the stock heatsink off,,,,AMD CPUs are notorious for slipping out easily when pull off the heatsink

just the asus logo when you turn monitor on, but there is LEDs on the mono for cpu, dram, gnu, and the cpu is red, does that mean the cpu is messed up??? i tried to take cpu out and put it back in many times, the heatsink gets hot when you turn the computer on though. so wouldn't that mean that the cpu is doing something??

and everything was working a1, before i changed the heatsink, then i thought it might be the heatsink messing the cpu up, so i put the stock heatsink back on, nothing, so i put the eve back, nothing…..

It sounds like you either killed the mobo or the CPU. At this point, you need to find another Mobo or CPU to test with so you can use process of elimination to figure out what you killed.

Sorry for your loss, we've all been there.

Rep appreciated.

ok now I'm REALLY confused…….ok i got the computer to at least boot, by turning the OC button ON!! then it went to bios, i set up a TINY over clock, 4.2 on a 8350, then when i rebooted it, it never booted back, so then i thought maybe its a bios problem, but I've reset cmos in EVERY WAY POSSIBLE!!!! the pin way, removed the li battery, the button on the back……i have no idea what to do……I'm thinking its the motherboard but I'm not sure and heres why.

i have ****ed up every other pci x16 slot on my board because my kid unplugged the computer from the wall, that was fine because i just moved the graphics card to another slot and wall, but this was my last pci e x16 slot, so I'm thinking that maybe all the slots just got fried, but i didn't do anything to fry this last one…..at all.

but the other thing is, my cpu fan, when everything is fine and dandy, it starts up slower, and when the screen turns on it kicks into high gear, louder, it is not doing this, the cpu fan is staying the same speed forever, not really very fast. but I've read a lot of other problems with this motherboard, and everyone else, there fans won't stay on, the lights won't stay on,

IM JUST SO CONFUSED, i don't wanna buy a new mono and need a new gnu or vice versa. is there any diagnostic tools i can use? besides the mono speaker, thats on its way from amazon.
