Water cool reference GPU or non-reference?

Thread Starter
Ive looked online about this but cant find anything.

Would it be worth water cooling say, 780 lightning over a standard 780? The way I see it, the lightning is only clocked higher because it has better cooling set up on it. It would be cheaper to buy a reference version and clock it higher. Or am I missing something?

Would a lightning clock higher over a reference card both on water, both OC'd by owner?

The lightning and the Classifed are both meant for overclocking. You are still getting a toss up of how good it will overclock because of the silicon lottery, but you will most likely see better results with the Classified or Lightning. For instance on my 780 Classifieds, I am 1201 with +500 on the mem game stable and 1297 with +600 on the memory game stable. Air cooled and 1.21v.
