780 Classified, to SLI or not to SLI? - Page 2

1 x classified on 1440 is very good.. I get around 60fps on crysis 3 everything on very high and smaa medium drops to around 50-52 lowest

all I can say is.. 2 x classified hydros on a 1440p monitor would beast.. thing what holds back a classified is the temps.. underwater I can only imagine to be uberness!

To be totally honest, I don't understand the correlation between VRAM and game smoothness, I have no idea how to measure it either. Obviously bigger is better, but what happens when I run out of VRAM? I was looking at a 4GB Gigabyte GTX 770 OC WINDFORCE before the huge price slash of the 780's as I figured 4GB was a winner. But the OC potential of the Classified and pure grunt won me over.

*Edit*

Okay, I got it. The more intensive the AA and tessellation used the more VRAM used, lack of VRAM results in system RAM being used, system RAM is slow, hence dropped frame rates. I found this little graph based on Crysis 3:

I should think I would be fine with 3gbs though, surely? I'm going to start logging using BF4 and MSI Afterburner, I'm intrigued. ^_^

*Edit #2*

2308.523Mbs is the max I've seen so far on BF4. Everything on Very High or Ultra and 8xAA.

I think the OP said it was a photo editing rig ... He needs a quality monitor first and foremost.
But it's up to him, of course...
