Call of Duty Ghosts-No option for EXTRA Setting

Thread Starter
I started up Call of Duty Ghosts and I wasn't able to keep Texture Resolution, Normal Map Resolution and Specular Map Resolution on EXTRA. I tried but even after setting it, it reverts back to NORMAL for those three settings. Here's a screenshot. Has anyone come across it? Please do help.

Same problem here.

Nothing I can do helps, I've had (I guess) some success with tweaking config.cfg and setting the "mip" options to 0, from what I understand some of the textures still look like utter crap despite this. If you attempt it, after your changes go into properties and set the file to read only, or the game will immediately revert them. I don't know if perhaps a lot of people aren't observant and this is going on more than we think, or if it's a very unlikely problem.

But it will stick on low, just nothing beyond normal. I"m using the 4gb patch although that doesn't seem to be consistent with the problem, have a friend who is also using the patch and runs settings on max.

I5 760k 4ghz
4gb Gskill 1600mhz
7970 3gb OC'd to 1125mhz
Win 7 Ultimate x64

Thinking of uninstalling and reinstalling to see if this fixes anything.

It's the ram fix. Hopefully an update or new version of it will come about, otherwise 4gb will indeed limit things here.

Lol yeah, bit of a rock and a hard place. Was reading that for some, updating visual c++, .net framework 4 and all the redists that come with it helped them run it with good textures, but that didn't work at all in my case. : /

Here's my review. Have a look and see if the textures seem right for the setting at NORMAL as I couldn't get it to save as EXTRA.

Yep! Nice review, looks about as good as you'll get it barring the texture settings.

I just want to point out that unless you have a 4gb card you should not be using extra anything on textures. I have a 770 4gb and this game uses 3.9 gbs of vram at full settings fxaa. My other pc I have 2gb 670s in sli and I have to use normal high high high for textures. Everything else maxed out fxaa and it doesn't go over 1.9gb. Both of these setups are only at 1080p and play without issue. The game included textures for 4k. This is causing more then half of these stuttering problems people are having. Since you have a 1gb card to will max out vram before you fully load the game so that's why the settings aren't sticking. Use MSi after burner or precision x and open the performance monitor and run cod of duty in windowed and test each combination of settings until you stay under 1gb of vram.
