Hello all,
Im going to give you my current situation, and i need your help to determine the best route. I currently have, in my wallet, $370 AUD (~$350 USD) to spend. Im looking to purchase a graphics card that will perform well for a year or two, and i've come to two options. My website that i do most of my shopping on (www.pccasegear.com) is selling out quickly on their GTX680's. And in particular, their EVGA cards. Now, my second option would be the ASUS R9 280x, DIrect CUII TOP edition. Now this is a good card, but if i were to choose cards on looks (yes i know) i would instantly choose the EVGA card, just because it suits to my build better than the black and red cooler on the ASUS card.

What im asking, is what card i would be better off with, which one performs better out of the box and overclocked. If anyone has any personal experience with either of the cards, please tell me your un-biased, honest opinions of your card.

This may be a little scattered, but i really need some advice.

Thanks.

EDIT: The ASUS R9 280x 3GB is $409, and the EVGA GTX 680 Signature 2 2GB is $359.

well the 280x is really a 7970ghz

Performance wise it;s a dead heat. the 7970 pulls ahead a bit with very large screen sizes, and behind with small ones. The difference is small though.

One will kick the others butt if the game you are playing is optimized for it of course, 7970 will win in BF4 and lose in ones that support the nvidia stuff
