Opty 165 vs. 4400+ Toledo?

Thread Starter
I have a DFI s939 motherboard and I am thinking about upgrading to either an opteron 165 or a 4400+ toledo 2x1mb. Which would be a better buy? The opty is about $30 cheaper and I heard you can overclock them more. Any suggestions? Thanks!

they are nearly the same, except with the right stepping opteron you can clock higher with EASE. Also, since the opteron is cheaper, its basically a no-brainer. DO IT!

Does the 4400+ have a 10x multi? If so that is a difference there which might work out depending on what mobo and ram you have. Fill in your system specs in the user cp area.

Ok, I filled in that info. I think I have almost the same motherboard as DontPassTheFence

Mine is just not an expert, so i figured its still pretty close.

Yeah it should be fine they hit a pretty high FSB. What is your actual memory maker, can you link use to the ram?

Get the Opty 165.

With the right stepping the Toledo willl clock high too. I would get the Toledo. The 165 only has a 9x multi and will make a higher oc much harder to obtain. My Toledo has hit 3.1 ghz, I don't see 165's doing that.

Well hmm, what would be the best choice then? I game a little, but not much, and don't have too much experience with overclocking, but I heard it was pretty easy with the opty...what do you guys think?

The 4400 has an 11x multi, I would go with the 165 if you have highly oc'able ram, but the 4400 if you have normal stuff
