fx4300 lapping and maybe kraken x60 aswell

Hey guys!smile.gif

Gonna lap my CPU as it wasnt so flat as i thought, so gonna go 400-2000 on it and hopefully see some temp drops: )

I also bought my kraken x60 for almost 30% off retail prize cause the carton and amd backplate was missing some tape/pad so easy fix:) noticed that it has small scratches at the waterblock so the question is should i lap it as well? If so,do i use same tactic or just "shine it up? With higher grids?

The temp i am looking at is fx4300 @4860mhz +- at 57-60c full load, this is due to my chip badding on me and i had to krank up vcore upto 1,5(full llc to extreme 1,572-1,580 vcore) just to go past 4,6-4,7 so a drop in either temp or required voltage would be nice:) what dö u think?smile.gif

Will with time go full custom loop and/or fx8350 or 9xxx series:)

If it has scratches and your comfortable with the lapping go for it on the cooler. biggrin.gif

Temp at OC seems a little tight but I'm used to Thubans and my 8350 under an h80i.

Remember, until you run out of mount holes: MOAR PHANZ!

Here is a update:

Lapped yesterday 400-2000grit(wet grit all the way though)
It got shiny and reflective but not as good as you pro's tongue.gif

Kraken i didnt touch cause of time and lack of sleep.

So i noticed some pins where a little bent but i fixed it but got red 'CPU led" showing constantly and no screen signal, everything runs inside the case, fans, disc etc.

What can be wrong, did i just break it? I have only dismounted cooler and cpu...what in the world?frown.gif

Also tried jumper reset and cmos reset(battery etc) didnt work:(

Can i fit a phenom ||955 BE with a sabertooth fx990 r02 AM3+ board? Just to rule out MB error and so and instead rum that till i get a new one?tongue.gif

Only thing i got out of this was experience, dead CPU? And a bloody but even tip on my thumb.

I have read most of the guides about reseat everything etc but only 1 component has been removed and reseated so it must be cpu or mb right?frown.gif

Edit: will try to unbend some pins to see IF it works again..however the phenom 955 works like a charm @3,8ghz but gets hotter than my fx did @4,8ghz: ( so guessing either static electricity, bent pins or bad luck might have killed my chip bit worth one last try:)
